Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center will create 3,900 regional jobs
The San Diego Bay area is progressing forward as a tourist and business destination with the approval of the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center. San Diego County will reap $500 million in new activity.
The Port Commission announced, “The Chula Vista Bayfront is funded!” after both the Chula Vista Planning Commission and City Council voted unanimously to go forward with the project.
“It’s the best feeling in the world,” said Councilmember John McCann. “We’ve been working on this for over two decades and to finally give the people of Chula Vista something that they deserve, the amenities that they will cherish forever, this is a project that will last for over a hundred years.”
The resort hotel will sport 1,600 rooms and a world-class convention center with four giant ballrooms. The $1.35 billion project will feature 200 acres of RV camping and revamped parks. It will take two to three years to complete.
According to Meeting Spotlight, “On the job front, it’s estimated the project will support 10,000 jobs (direct and indirect) through construction, nearly 1,500 permanent jobs on site, and nearly 3,900 jobs regionally per year.”
The general public also will benefit from numerous dining, shopping and entertainment venues.
