SWAT Standoff in Rolando Ends After Hours-Long Negotiation

Suspect surrenders peacefully to San Diego police following tense overnight standoff.

A tense SWAT standoff in Rolando came to an end early this morning after approximately four and a half hours, with the suspect surrendering to San Diego police officers.

The standoff began around 1:30 a.m. on Madeline Street, near College Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard, prompting a significant police response. By 6 a.m., the suspect had surrendered without further incident. As of 6:30 a.m., police activity in the area remained ongoing as officers worked to secure the scene.

Authorities had cordoned off streets for two blocks in all directions during the incident and urged residents to avoid the area until further notice.
